Engine Failure Forced This Flight to Ditch in the Mediterranean Sea | Black Box Down Podcast
My grandma worked at Hobby airport in Houston Texas in 1973 as someone who would track where the planes were on the map and put data in, and she said they lost it on the map and found out it hit a mountain. She said it was a terrible accident.
This is "China Airlines Flight 120" not "China Airlines Flight 129"
Thank you. I fixed the typo because of your comment.
Blows my mind how little this channel got in subs, almost anything that has Gus is entertaining, along with how much detail there is…just doesn’t make sense how there isn’t at least 200k following this.
Boop
Another run through, such a good podcast
The engineer was with the flight attendant when the propeller came off. They were BOTH looking out the window when the propeller came off and cut a hole in the fuselage.
“Don’t worry” he said, as the plane disintegrated around him. Have another scotch. No junk in it.
oh, a Boeing official? why we certainly know how sincerely concerned they are about safety standards and regulations...
So Boeing has been shady for some time. Good Lord
Please come back.
"Pilots doing bumps in the cockpit, yeah......PSA started that"
33:10 I like this part when they get confused like the crew did about the controls
Check out Mentour Pilot for an excellent coverage of this incident . The guy is a current pilot. This narration is done by a non pilot, and his lack of knowledge shows.
I thinque hes confuséd. Wasn't TCAS a resulté of thé Othér Cerritos incident (Aeroméxice Flight 498) TCAS wasn't a thing till 1981 (FAA Mandated), the incident in this video (PSA 182) occurred in 1978 😮😮😮

If you look on your specific maps in the bridge immediately north of the airport
Completely BS
Fantastic video and well explained.
GUS!?
Today is my first time listening to your podcast. Stop saying “we’ve talked about this before.” I stuck with the episode but most others will think they’re missing crucial information and tune away
42:30 lmaoo
So i Googled this because i had to see what it looked like. It should be noted, in my opinion at least, that this happened way back in 1988. Which to me is even more impressive since airtravel has evolved quite a bit since then and they managed to do all land a plane in that condition back then
"Airplane travel is the safest mode of transportation but also we have made a podcast about all airplane accidents"
Airbus is European junk
I listened to this podcast everyday while walking to and from classes in my final year of college. I love it so much.
This animation is what I was hoping for, well done. This is the only way to make what Gus does better
Where's my comment
Tuebe and attitude(altitude) lol
Boeing employee here- the phrase “if it’s not Boeing, I’m not going.” is still big among employees, some official merch have the phrase too haha.
My grandfather was supposed to be on this flight but delayed his trip the morning of… Thank you for covering this
This is a much better examination if the Avianca flight. When the Mayday doc landed on RUclips it was not very in depth and actually missed a lot of contributing factors. That led to a lot of the comments either missing the fact the doc mentioned criticism of the NTSB report or completely blaming the ATC making the assumption that all the ATC functioned as one unit without taking into account crew performance deficiencies and airline procedures. Even the victims interviewed were so detached that they seem to not have a fundamental understanding of why their plane crashed. This gives a much clearer image and much more nuanced. I get those docs are not that great, but it was not even close to keeping with the philosophy that there are always multiple contributing factors to an accident.
Drink everytime Gustavo says "Like I said"
I think in most cases a special type of criminal charge with community service as punishment is appropriate, maybe called Air Tantrum
59:56 why would Biden do such a thing the company is clearly sus. I’m gonna miss this podcast :(
Im really going to miss this podcast
Chris' reference to the lack of personal culpability for the paper pushers is an exact sight into the world of mechanical consumer goods and the sluffing of responsibility shown by plenty of the mega corps(vw diesel, bmw timing chains, toyota pedals, american big three rollover studies)
This was such an awesome podcast! Thank you for hosting it.
